OUR STORY
WHY US? WHY DOBERMANS?

My name is Matt Pruett. As a young man my family bred AKC German Shepherds. I helped feed and care for all of the animals in our care but of course,  I loved taking care of the puppies! My parents taught me a lot about puppy health. I gave vaccinations, cut those sharp puppy nails, I did everything. I never dreamt that I would ever take part in breeding and raising dogs again. After all, that was my parents thing and I was just doing my part in the family business.

Many years passed. Katie and I got married. We had kids and we had a few different breeds of dogs as pets. We had Whippets, Dachshund and of course German Shepherds. We loved those breeds and had wonderful times with those members of ur family. After the passing of our Dachshund, our German Shepherd was lonely and we knew that we needed to get our “Pepper” a sister to play with. A neighbor of ours had a Doberman Pinscher who had just had a litter of puppies. Katie was asked to feed the puppies while the owners were out of town and she fell in love with the little Dobies.  I personally was not thrilled about the idea of getting a Doberman. I had heard that they were a fierce “bully breed”. My wife recruited one of my daughters and at their request, I went over to meet the puppies. When I walked into the yard, I was greeted by the mother of the pups. She came up to me and stuck her head between my knees, stood there and insisted on getting some love from me. I sat in the grass and she flopped down on my lap and gave a big grunt and a moan as she settled in and made herself comfortable. She was everything that I did not expect from a Doberman Pinscher. She was  a big lap dog! She loved to be around us and wanted attention. When the puppies came out, a little fawn female came right over to us, played with us and in my opinion, she “adopted” us. She was so sweet and cute!

We took that little girl home and named her Natasha Romanoff after the Marvel character. All of our dogs are named after Marvel characters ( all of our cats are named after WWE wrestlers). Natasha quickly fit right into our family. She was great with our kids, our older German Shepherd as well as our two cats.  We fell in love her and with Doberman Pinschers. We learned the history of the breed and the strange quirks that not only make Dobermans one of the most loyal breeds of dogs in the world, but also make them a lot of fun! Their intelligence and their connection with their people make them one of the best family dogs. As our love for Natasha grew, we wanted others to have the opportunity to experience the love of the Doberman Pinscher like we had. This is why we began to breed.

We raise our puppies in our home and we give them a lot of love! We follow veterinarian recommended deworming and vaccination schedules to help insure that your puppy is both happy and healthy!

We are a small family operation. We have a couple of litters a year. We breed healthy, DNA tested dogs and place an emphasis on temperament, intelegence and personality. We want your family to have a similar experience as ours did! We want you to love a Doberman Pinscher and experience the love that only a Dobie can give!

ABOUT THE BREED
WHY DOBERMANS MAKE GREAT PETS

Dobermans are smart, people-loving dogs that are loyal, protective, and affectionate. With the right training and early socialization, they can make amazing family pets.

That said, every Doberman has its own personality. Some may be more energetic, others calmer. The key is finding the right puppy that fits your family’s lifestyle and then putting in the time to train and socialize them—especially with kids and other pets.

Doberman Temperament at a Glance

Here’s a quick look at what most Dobermans are like. Keep in mind—if some of these traits don’t sound like a good fit for your family, it’s okay to consider a different breed.

  • Highly Intelligent – Dobermans rank in the top five smartest breeds. They’re easy to train, but they get bored quickly if not challenged. They do best in active families with clear rules.
  • Loyal – They bond deeply with their family. Many will pick a “favorite person,” but they still love being part of the whole pack.
  • People-Oriented – Sometimes called “velcro dogs,” they want to be right by your side. They pay close attention to people and pick up on expectations quickly.
  • Loving and Affectionate – Don’t be surprised if your big Doberman wants to be a lapdog or climb in bed with you. They thrive on closeness.
  • Protective – Bred as guard dogs, Dobermans are naturally watchful. They’ll keep an eye on the house and won’t hesitate to protect their family if needed.

Exercise Needs

Dobermans are working dogs, so they need lots of activity. A big fenced yard is ideal, but what they really need is daily exercise and playtime. This makes them a great match for active families—especially if you’ve got kids who like to run around too!

Every Doberman is unique, but these traits give you a good picture of what life with one might look like. If you’re considering adding a Doberman to your family, we’d love to help you find a puppy that matches your lifestyle.
